This 20x60" work draws from scenes around Kaua'i- the pali full of ridges and texture, shadow and light. Though plastic pollution is a problem in the ocean, this piece speaks to a broader message of caring for all earth, and connects the bridge between mauka and makai. I've made two versions of DEEP MAUKA and it's always fun to hide "easter eggs" of random identifiable materials within the mountain image.

DEEP MAUKA is framed in a custom handmade walnut wood frame, and its medium is integrated exactly as it was found in color, shape, and size. Included in this piece are many unknown objects but some identifiable ones as well- including hagfish traps, bottle caps, pens, toy wheels, and combs.
